Mohn - Mohn

Last month Kompakt pioneers Wolfgang Voigt and Jorg Burger released an album under their ‘Mohn’ guise. As ambient albums go it’s a very nice listen but the stand out track by a long way is ‘Ebertplatz 2020’…

Dutch producer Conforce has just released a new long player on Delsin records. The much anticipated Escapism is an album that will have even the most tentative listener’s full attention right from the first snare in the opening Revolt Dx. If you can forgive the cheesiness for a second this album takes you on a journey. A one hour journey to be precise. Shadows of the Invisible is a stomper and would go well on techno club sound systems but it’s not the norm on the album. It’s a sudden jolt from a space like trip of laser precision techno.

With the time of years that’s in it don’t be surprised to see this one near the summit of a few ‘Best album of 2011’ lists. Get on it.

Dillon - This Silence Kills

With outstanding production from Thies Mynther and Tamer Fahri Özgönenc, Berlin based artist Dillon, real name Dominique Dillon de Byington, has put together quite a remarkable debut album on Bpitch Control records. A Youtube discovery Dillon has put her very unique voice to work extremely well on this album. Comparisons to Bjorke will no doubt be made and ‘This Silence Kills’ has all the ingredients of a very fine, classy album that Bjork herself would be proud off. Full album stream below.

On the occasion of his 20th Anniversary Mix of Tresor Records, Mike Huckaby included an exclusive new track in the label compilation.

With “The Tresor Track” Mike Huckaby also announces a forthcoming 12” on Tresor Records for the Spring of 2012.

Aphex Twin - Isopropanol

So classic it even made the 1995 Aphex Twin ‘Classics’ compilation. Heavy shit.

Victor Ferreira’s Sun Glitters album ’Everything Could be Fine’ was released last month on UFOLK records. Happy Fuzziness.

Electric Picnic Come Down - Ambient Selection

Electric Picnic is over for another year and the come down is harder than ever. It’s taken a week to come round but it was all worth it. The smaller crowd and the impressive performance of a number of artists made it the best picnic in quite a while. D/R/U/G/S was the pick of a very fine bunch for me with Oh Land also putting up an incredible performance that started with a handful of bemused Picnic wanderers and ended with a few hundred newly converted Oh Land fans. The biggest downer was missing the Greg Wilson DJ set at the Bacardi Get Together area. By all accounts it was redonk and you can confirm that by listening to it here

To help with the post picnic blues I have been listening to a lot of ambient, chilled out dream pop type stuff. Some of which has blown me away and so I thought I’d share some of the best bits here. So here they are…
